Her acoustic rock collaboration with singer-songwriter, Jim Major, has brought her to the stage opening for such bands as Santana, Mick Fleetwood & Island Rumours, Smashmouth, Train, Huey Lewis and Henry Kapono. Silvina is also an active wedding and special events musician within the islands. She was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, and began her musical studies on piano at age 3. She also had a choral education, being both a chorister and soloist. The cello became part of her life at age 12 and it was love at “first play”!
While living on Vancouver Island, she was the Assistant Principle cellist of the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra from 2005-2008. She has attended Tafelmusik’s Baroque Summer Festival and the Banff Center’s Masterclass program, studying with Aldo Parisot, Christina Mahler and Shauna Rolston. Silvina holds a Bachelors Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Victoria, and Diplomas in Performance and Pedagogy from the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
